My way to VOB to AVI conversion #1

2.Choose:
Video Compression: MPEG 4 v3
Audio Compression: IMA ADPCM
Audio: 200%
Crop Top: 72
Crop Bottom: 72
MPEG2 Properties: don't touch
AC3 Properties: Stereo, Full, no "Max 44.1 kHz"
Anamorphic 800x338, no "16 pixel lock"

3. Wait 14xfilm duration (Celeron 450)

Tips:
a. convert max 1.5 GB VOBs
b. don't grab menus (VOB2AVI crashes)
c. jump points where w/h ratio changes
d. during conversion resample at 800x338 and play output AVI at 800x600 screen resolution (so it's not necessary any interpolation)
e. Make a playlist (.m3u) to sequentially play converted AVIs

PROS: one step conversion, perfect quality and low bitrate (109 kByte/s with MPEG4v3 and IMA ADPCM 48 kHz stereo audio !), perfect A/V sync (tested only on PAL DVD), perfect aspect ratio (as you can resample frames), pretty fast at MPEG1 resolution (352x288)

CONS: slow if you resample frames at higher resolution (1 hr for 4 mins of video at 800x338 on my Celeron 450), no codec settings, pretty bugged.
